We Are an Extraordinary Family
Women of Song is an adult women’s community choir providing an opportunity for lifelong choral singing of high quality music in a fun setting. Our group was formed in 1986 as the Wayzata Women’s Choir and over the years has developed into a semi-professional ensemble. In 2015, we changed our name to Women of Song. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has a member-based Board of Directors. We are supported primarily by contributions from our members as well as donations from our supporters. A singer’s fee contributes to: the purchase of music, rehearsal and performance venue rentals, Director and Accompanist’s time, concert programs and miscellaneous administrative costs. Our Board of Directors and Leadership Team volunteer their time, and members may be asked if they could help out with certain requests from time-to-time.
Women of Song performs music from a variety of genres, including contemporary, spirituals, and sacred. We support the Twin Cities and surrounding communities through benefit concerts and performances. We have participated in music festivals and competitions in the U.S. and internationally.
Women of Song seeks to inspire and uplift audiences, to be a positive and enriching force for all who sing with and hear us, and to share music that expresses the unique and beautiful qualities of the female voice.
